"Ethereal Brim" is a hand-painted and hand-beaded wide-brim hat that measures sufficiently to make a statement while being practical enough to be worn out and about. My journey with this piece began with the unique challenge of creating something wearable, specifically for clients who expressed a desire to take my art off the walls and into their daily lives.
What I found most exciting—and challenging—about creating this artwork was balancing the hat’s weight while keeping it rich in detail. This led me to develop a method that involved using recycled denim as an aide alongside the beads. This not only made the hat lighter but also added a layer of sustainability to the project.
